STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Hands-On Learning

At Heritage Cooperative, we're committed to investing in the next generation of agricultural professionals by providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Whether you're looking to gain broad business experience through an internship or develop technical field skills through an agronomy apprenticeship, our student opportunities are designed to help you grow both personally and professionally.

Each opportunity pairs students with experienced mentors, meaningful responsibilities, and real-world projects that create lasting value for our cooperative. Along the way, participants build technical knowledge, strengthen leadership and communication skills, and gain firsthand experience working in one of the nation's leading agricultural cooperatives.

No matter which path you choose, you'll leave Heritage with practical experience, professional connections, and a deeper understanding of the agriculture industry.

Apprenticeship Program

Heritage Cooperative is committed to developing the next generation of agronomy professionals through meaningful learning opportunities. The Agronomy Apprenticeship Program provides students pursuing careers in the industry with real-world field experience, technical training, and mentorship from our experienced Heritage agronomy team.

Throughout the experience, apprentices support Heritage’s H-Plot Program by assisting with demonstration plot field trials, planting, maintenance, crop scouting, plant health and fertility programs, crop protection, and more. Working alongside Heritage agronomists, apprentices gain valuable exposure to agronomy operations and sales while building the technical knowledge and professional skills needed for a successful career.

The Agronomy Apprenticeship Program prepares participants for careers in the agronomy industry while supporting Heritage's commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.

Internship Program

The Heritage Cooperative Internship Program provides students with meaningful, project-based experiences across a variety of business areas, including agronomy, retail, feed, energy, grain, marketing, finance, information technology, human resources, and more. Interns work alongside experienced professionals while gaining valuable insight into the daily operations that drive our cooperative's success.

Each intern is assigned a strategic project tailored to their department and guided by their manager. These projects are designed to solve real business challenges by developing sustainable solutions that improve processes, increase efficiency, and create lasting value well beyond the internship experience. Throughout the summer, interns also gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration, leadership development, and the cooperative business model.

At the conclusion of the program, interns present their projects and recommendations to Heritage's leadership team, showcasing the impact of their work while developing valuable presentation and professional communication skills. The Internship Program provides meaningful experience that prepares students for successful careers while supporting Heritage's commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
