Individualized solutions to help you farm more efficiently, more sustainably and more profitably.

Heritage Agronomy

Someday, in the not-too-distant future, precision farming will simply be called farming. The power of technology gives farmers who embrace it a distinct advantage over those who don’t—especially in years like we’ve seen recently with razor-thin margins. If you’re over-applying crop nutrients, for example, you’re wasting money and threatening our water resources.

Heritage Cooperative has developed key relationships with a number of technology providers. Our goal is to help your operation leverage the technology available to improve each acre. From getting started on basic soil sampling and soil fertility programs, to aerial imagery, predictive crop health and everything in between, we can help.

Heritage Cooperative has assembled a team of agronomists and precision specialists who understand them and will help you make the most of the technology on your farm by connecting it with your agronomic practices. All you have to do is ask.

Stewardship

As an agricultural cooperative, we believe we have a responsibility to our member-owners to help them do the right thing on every acre of land they farm. We know, managing nutrients rates and timing of application is of ongoing importance. And it’s not simply an environmental issue; it’s an economic issue as well. Applying crop nutrients that won’t actually be taken up by crops due to soil or drainage issues, low plant populations or other factors is simply a waste of money.

Fortunately, there are technologies and programs (including financial assistance) available to every farmer today that simply didn’t exist even 10 years ago. Heritage Cooperative is a proud partner with with two national organizations that are leading the way toward a more sustainable agriculture: The Fertilizer Institute, which promotes 4R Nutrient Stewardship, and Land O’Lakes, which has developed a comprehensive farm-to-table sustainability initiative for the entire industry, called SUSTAIN.

The Right Seed for the Job

Heritage Cooperative offers corn hybrids and soybean varieties from DeKalb and Asgrow, Croplan brand from Winfield and our own Shur Grow brand. It’s important to remember that the best seed for your farm may not be the most expensive seed, which is often stacked with traits you may or may not need.

With years of data from our own test plots, as well as yearly trials at The Ohio State University, our agronomists can help you choose the best corn, soybean and wheat genetics for the soils you farm, the disease and insect pressures you face as well as your level of risk tolerance.

Shur Grow Seed is Heritage Cooperative’s own proprietary brand of seed, recently celebrating more than 50 years of serving farmers in Ohio.
